Zümrütevler Square

Istanbul, Turkey ,2019

From parking space and trash storage to #publicspace and playground! #streetsforkids

In October 2019, the Zümrütevler Square in Istanbul was transformed into a lively and safe space for children and their caregivers. The pilot project was carried out by the Bernard van Leer Foundation’s #Urban95 programme in corporation with Maltepe Municipality, @superpoolorg and @nactocities@urban95cm aims to create #childfriendlycities by planning with the eyes of young children. “If you could experience the city from 95cm – the height of a 3-year-old – what would you change?”
