Play NYC

New York City, USA ,2021

@streetlab is doing inspiring work on NYC’s streets and in its public spaces.
The non-profit organization has created more than 200 #popup interventions across the city on 800 days of programming since 2011. The diverse installations have ranged from pop-up drawing stations, temporary reading rooms, temporary museum exhibitions, interactive building stations and open-air art studios.
Now, during the pandemic, they have adapted their programs to be safe and provide physical distance. In closed-off streets, they offer homework hubs, non-contact play stations and chalk drawing activities. Students, children and other residents can meet, do homework, read or be creative while staying safe. They’ve even made it possible to run the program in the winter by reusing outdoor seating and heat lamps from restaurants during their hours off!
